It makes the vaginal opening smaller and is done in an attempt to increase male pleasure.
symphysiotomy is an outdated surgical procedure in which the cartilage of the pubic symphysis is divided to widen the pelvis allowing childbirth when there is a mechanical problem.
The procedure carries massive risk of complications and is generally avoided in favor of C-section.
